Relatively Creepy

Kenzo's FW12 mens video lookbook took a very humorous, yet creepy take upon normal advertising.
All the fake waving, hugging, idiotic moves, all contributed to its characteristic of the video.

It's like a scary movie waiting to happen. O_O

Xmas List Ready?

It is always weird to take about Christmas in Summer, but then who doesn't want the festive feeling all year round? Sitting in front of the fire, unwrapping presents like a 10 years old, and be surprised what you ending up getting instead of what you wish. 

Wondering if you remember watching an cartoon film called "The Solar Express"

Liberty of London took inspiration from the Victoria age of the steam train where travel is for the adventurer and pioneers as the theme for their 2012 Christmas.

Having to recreate the sleeper train in mind, Liberty team turned their Christmas Shop space into "The Liberty Express", or as I called "The Flight of Wonder" (bit more fancy, you know)

Famous for their independent choice of selection, and their Tana Lawn print fabrics. Of course includes few quirky selections such as a table filled with "food" decoration, fooled little old me thinking it is literally a big feast at the end of the Press Viewing. 

The "train" includes a selection from their kidswear "Little Liberty"; their best of menswear gift selection such as ties, & Trousers strap (that's a first!); homewear along with very cosy prints and furniture; of course decorations. 

"Liberty Express" departs on the 8th September on the 4th floor in their flagship, down Great Marlborough Street, London, W1. #LibertyExpress

Maison Martin Margiela at H&M

Few days ago, a very heavy rumour been spreading across the industry with Vogue reporting Maison Martin Margiela might be the next collab for HM. Day after, H&M announced it's indeed fact that Maison Martin Margiela will be the next collab for November. 

The collection, minimalist and functional of course, will feature the inspirations and lookback to le Maison itself. Various cat coats and darted knitwear. 

The collection consists of:-

8 17 21 11 22 5 (Womens)

3 21 16 21 12 9 (Mens)

There might be more, have no information just yet. 

(If you don't know what those numbers are, please Wikipedia MMM itself as its a major characteristic of the brand)

No men no men, just yet. 

For the ladies... something with the baseball caps. With amazing palette of purple + blue + gold. 

The flapper / 50s style dominated the last few season have completely disappeared, according to H&M.

Milk me Milan.

Sorry for the two weeks absence. It had been quite a mad 2 weeks with emailing, alongside trying to control the "other life" with more practical works.

I will try my best to catch you up with all the latest news around town. First thing first, Milan Fashion Week, followed right after London Fashion Week.
Here are the 29 best looks that represent the AW12-13 in MilanFW.
Mixing the gothic romanticism with muted metallic. The cape somehow is coming back - first seen in 2008, then appealed into 2010 with menswear Burberry cape, now diffused back into womenswear with various prints like golden medieval (refer to Alexander McQueen AW10)

The main colour palette still moving round the shades of black, Paris coming up next after MARNI for H&M coverage (Y)

LFW DAY SIX: Ones To Watch: Men / Oliver Spencer

Ones To Watch is a showcase of talented "coming-ups" picked by industry experts / "graduates" from Vauxhall Fashion Scout such as David Koma, giving them a chance to display their collection and set them off into the scene. This season features Bodyhound, Joseph Turvey, Julian Zigerli, Tobefrank. Each of their own has their unique styles and identity.

So... the notes that I have made have been put under each brand, along with pictures too...

LFW DAY FIVE: Ji Cheng / Aminaka Wilmount

Ji cheng

Collection themed - Zen Awakening, meaning thought is not thinking, inner enses to constantly examine actions. Ji uses the natural blended colour of cassocks, touched with modern fluorescent geen and pure vermillion. Smoothly draped overlapping lines. First no heels movement.

Aminaka Wilmount

Minimalist structured yet bold, confident and unique collection, featuring prints of gems, and crystals alongside serpents water lilies. Seeing the hard and soft elements together .
The prints also remain dark and sultry harder tone. Its knitwear iridescent thread woven through, with a slick, dynamic style with a graphic touches, and some are reversible. The collection boldly resembles what is the Aminaka Wilmont woman is.

LFW DAY FIVE: Jasper Garvida

Jasper Garvida's collection contrast yet harmonise the military detailing with soft suede and fine cashmere. Featuring the utilitarian silhouette at the front start of the collection.
With inspirations taken from Liubov Popova's rich hues of green and camel shades, with a few dashes of gold, which helps to breathe life into the contrast between rigidity and femininity, and the clash of military functionality with opulent luxury.

LFW DAY FOUR: Prose

Referring to the press release, the collections are usually inspired by certain materials. Blue Curtain was the inspiration for this AW12 collection. It was destroyed and cut into pieces to create something new along with woven show leather that has been dyed after the weave process, and enweaved where a beautiful pattern arise and the fringes look like feathers.

While the show atmosphere kinda destroyed by its pick of music, its invitation & lookbook design is one of the top-notch with reflection & silver against the dark & delicate clothing.

LFW DAY THREE: Prophetik / Jeffrey Michael

Day three started with Prophetik, Victorian silhoutte mixed with the early 50s style cut made the show quite interesting, yes must admit that it made the show a little bit less-structured but in general it was a good show.
With few menswear piece featuring gold medieval prints and trench coat, but the kilt, I think it's over now after past 2/3 years. Men just wouldn't dose into the trend nor will adapt.

LFW DAY TWO: Shao Yen

Day two finishes off with an installation by Shao Yen. By far, one of the most interesting installation. Its layout can be comparable with Alexander McQueen SS2005 "Life's only a game" show, with the chessboard. Instead of a black and white chessboard, there's several white cube blocks aligned with eachother.
Also the designer herself was in the installation using cameras to project various perspectives of the outfits and models.

The collection-wise, revise sportswear with a tailoring twist in certain pieces while others with prints and irregular draping / shapings.

LFW DAY TWO: Bernard Chandran

Day two continues with Bernard Chandran, in Vauxhall Fashion Scout. All the collars, with the harems silhoutte sure will dominate the new season's trend.
Tailoring with a 'wavey' twist.
He also played along with various fabrics from lace to viscose, to basic knitwear-cotton.

The collection features mainly monochrome looks with a glimpse of navy to accompany with patches of plastic-alike fabrics.

LFW DAY TWO: Dans La Vie / Spijkers en Spikers

Inspired by American Pop Art and elements from a spirtual japanese priest "Kukar", Dans La Vie rocked out outragerously beatuiful patterns, accompanied with several patches of gold muted metallic, along with a target plate as a headpiece.

The pinched waist been seen all along today's shows as well. Puff skirts, leather jackets somehow made a weird match.

Alongside Spijkers en Spijkers brought few new garden vintage patterns-inspired look.

LFW DAY ONE: Orla Kiely / Ada Zandition

Day one finishes with: a visit to Orla Kiely's tea dance. The showspace transformed into a tea party with a wooden dancefloor at the centre and a live jazz band, perfected with a cuppa (which turned into champagne) and of course, tea biscuits!
Dancers are all dressed in lookbooks, featuring few vintage prints, along with 1920's New Look silhoutte dresses (Pinched Waist). Under the disco ball, everything looked just a bit hopeless romantic (=[). I arrived quite late, so wasnt able to grab a lookbook or many pictures, so when I receive more, will definitely update you'all.

& also a visit to the Screening Room for Ada Zandition's 'Simia Mineralis'
I remember questioning myself at the end - "Would I have this dream sometimes soon or it had already happened?"
A MUST-SEE FASHION FILM.

LFW: DAY ONE: Francesca Marotta / A La Disposition

2 very strong components here.
Francesca Marotta's "Amore della mia Vita" (Love of my life) started with grace, ended with radiant.
Mixing with lace with strong powerful woman, along with dashes of bring red, blue and phosphorescent yellow broke free the usual Powerdressing code.

While A La Disposition focused with distressed silhouette, with few patterns. Dark and gothic, re-enforce the power-dressing code to its extremist with the sharp shoulder details with pinched waist, paired with harem herringbone trousers.

Both unforgettable and unmissable.

LFW DAY ONE: Fal Irvoll / Bora Aksu

Here we goes again, another February meaning another season of London Fashion Week. Autumn / Winter 2012-2013 looking bright as ever as more designers are on show in London and they had stepped up its game, hiring more spaces within Somerset House, and accomadating mmore designers for exhibitions.
Our day started off with Fal Irvoll, a bold ghostbuster-obessed fashion designer from Norway, at Vauxhall Fashion Scout.
''Monstermash'' - the 'mash' started with a remix of ghostbusters which I'm in love with and needing to hunt that track down as soon as possible (anyone know a good remix of ghostbusters? email me!!)
The overall collection is playful and has a strong bedroom party feeling to it (PJ party, anyone?!) with its first look featuring a yellow knitted jumper with a monster pattern, created a great atmosphere to the show.
